Food Snatcher

My friend Courtney and I took three toddlers and a six year old to Chick-fil-A the other day to play and eat lunch. We should have known better when there were twice as many kids as their were moms. Jake and her daughter (the 6 yr old) were playing on the indoor playground, I was ordering the food, and Courtney was sitting at the table with her 1 yr old and Will.

It was taking an extra long time to get our food for some reason. Probably because it was noon on a saturday!! I was bringing all the drinks to the table and was going to go back to the counter and wait for the food when I heard..

"Mine, no mine."

I turned around because I knew the familar voice of my two year old when I saw him holding a bag of food. This woman was just smiling saying, "no honey this is mine your mommy has yours."

Jake was very demanding and sure that this bag of food was his. I just wanted to melt on the floor of embarrassment. I walked over and handed the woman HER bag of food back and went on the explain to jake that our food was coming. He was very hungry and didn't understand.

Come to find out he had just walked out of the playground and went to the nearest table grabbed the bag of food off of it and kept going.

All a two year old knows is that when they are hungry they are hungry and that is the end of story.

Needless to say from now on, I have many snacks in our diaper bag and jake is going to come with me to order our food and stay with me until we get it. No more food theives in this family.

Chocolate Syrup

I have always just taken both my kids with me while doing all of my errands throughout the day. We go to the bank, post office, grocery store, etc. It is pretty much where momma is the babies are too. I love it that way and would not change it, except....

I had waited as long as possible to go to the grocery store this week until we had no milk, eggs, bread, drinks, snacks, etc. Bobby was finally like our only option for dinner tonight is to go out to eat if we don't make it to the grocery store today.

So, I decided that I would make a list (a very long list) with all the stuff we needed for snacks and meals for the next week or so. This was supposed to make is really easy!!

The kids and I go to Walmart on Sunday afternoon during their naptime. The store was very crowded with other people having the same idea that I did that day.

Jake and Will were being so good. We were half way through the grocery isles and making great progress. I was getting some canned vegetables when I turn around to put them in the buggy only to find Jake drinking the Hersery's chocolate syrup I had just put in the buggy.

Not only was he drinking it as fast as he could he has swirled it ALL over my groceries and had obviously tried to give his little brother some because it was all over Will's clothes and mouth.

I just stood in the isle like a deer in head lights not knowing what to do at this point. I knew I was not going to start all over with the groceries, but I also didn't really want sticky items either in my cart.

I decided to put the open chocolate syrup back up on the shelf and continue my shopping as quickly as possible before anyone else saw us. When we were checking out the cashier kept looking at my grocery items wanting to know why everything has brown sticky stuff all over it. I just smiled really big and said, "you just never know what you are in for with two toddlers at the grocery store."

She just smiled and agreed and tried to get us out as soon as possible, and I can't blame her.

Needless to say neither of the boys took a nap that day from being so hyper from all the chocolate.

Lesson learned: When bobby offers to watch the kids for me to go grocery shopping... take him up on it. Also, don't wait until we have no food and a mile long list to go grocery shopping if I am taking the kids with me.
