My friend Courtney and I took three toddlers and a six year old to Chick-fil-A the other day to play and eat lunch. We should have known better when there were twice as many kids as their were moms. Jake and her daughter (the 6 yr old) were playing on the indoor playground, I was ordering the food, and Courtney was sitting at the table with her 1 yr old and Will.
It was taking an extra long time to get our food for some reason. Probably because it was noon on a saturday!! I was bringing all the drinks to the table and was going to go back to the counter and wait for the food when I heard..
"Mine, no mine."
I turned around because I knew the familar voice of my two year old when I saw him holding a bag of food. This woman was just smiling saying, "no honey this is mine your mommy has yours."
Jake was very demanding and sure that this bag of food was his. I just wanted to melt on the floor of embarrassment. I walked over and handed the woman HER bag of food back and went on the explain to jake that our food was coming. He was very hungry and didn't understand.
Come to find out he had just walked out of the playground and went to the nearest table grabbed the bag of food off of it and kept going.
All a two year old knows is that when they are hungry they are hungry and that is the end of story.
Needless to say from now on, I have many snacks in our diaper bag and jake is going to come with me to order our food and stay with me until we get it. No more food theives in this family.

Chocolate Syrup
I have always just taken both my kids with me while doing all of my errands throughout the day. We go to the bank, post office, grocery store, etc. It is pretty much where momma is the babies are too. I love it that way and would not change it, except....
I had waited as long as possible to go to the grocery store this week until we had no milk, eggs, bread, drinks, snacks, etc. Bobby was finally like our only option for dinner tonight is to go out to eat if we don't make it to the grocery store today.
So, I decided that I would make a list (a very long list) with all the stuff we needed for snacks and meals for the next week or so. This was supposed to make is really easy!!
The kids and I go to Walmart on Sunday afternoon during their naptime. The store was very crowded with other people having the same idea that I did that day.
Jake and Will were being so good. We were half way through the grocery isles and making great progress. I was getting some canned vegetables when I turn around to put them in the buggy only to find Jake drinking the Hersery's chocolate syrup I had just put in the buggy.
Not only was he drinking it as fast as he could he has swirled it ALL over my groceries and had obviously tried to give his little brother some because it was all over Will's clothes and mouth.
I just stood in the isle like a deer in head lights not knowing what to do at this point. I knew I was not going to start all over with the groceries, but I also didn't really want sticky items either in my cart.
I decided to put the open chocolate syrup back up on the shelf and continue my shopping as quickly as possible before anyone else saw us. When we were checking out the cashier kept looking at my grocery items wanting to know why everything has brown sticky stuff all over it. I just smiled really big and said, "you just never know what you are in for with two toddlers at the grocery store."
She just smiled and agreed and tried to get us out as soon as possible, and I can't blame her.
Needless to say neither of the boys took a nap that day from being so hyper from all the chocolate.
Lesson learned: When bobby offers to watch the kids for me to go grocery shopping... take him up on it. Also, don't wait until we have no food and a mile long list to go grocery shopping if I am taking the kids with me.

Leopard Spots
Everyday is such an adventure in this household. Today Daddy decides he is going to waterseal the kids wooden playset. On his way to Walmart I told him to get the clear Thompson's waterseal for the playset.
He says, "I know, I know it's just waterseal."
When daddy gets back home he decides that Jake needs to be his big helper. So, bobby gets the waterseal out and puts it into the bug sprayer container. The one that has the long extended handle.
Bobby and Jake were outside for a short while and I looked to check on them and Bobby is spraying the playset with the waterseal and Jake is right beside him watching his every move.
In a few minutes Jake comes running in and says, "momma wook" and was pointing outside. But before I could look outside at the playset I couldn't get past the fact that my 2 year old looked like he was a Leopard with brown spots ALL over his little body. He was suddenly dressed for Halloween in mid june.
By the time I was walking outside Bobby met me at the back door and said, "Whoops I guess I got the brown stain waterseal. It is all over Jake."
I couldn't do anything but laugh and say, "Ya think"
Needless to say I will go and get the clear waterseal for the playset if it is going to need a second coat so our neighbors won't think I let my kids run around dressed for Halloween in June.

1st Birthday

I can't believe my baby is one years old already!! Time really does go by too fast when you are having fun!!
Will had a great bday party with family and friends. We had alot of out of town people come which was neat!! He got alot of fun toys and cute clothes!! Will loved his cupcake (not surprising).
He loved playing with all the other kids and his favorite present was the paper that came off of the gifts. He sat directly in the middle of it and just smiled from ear to ear. I made the outfit he is wearing at his party.

Just a swingin

The boys got a playset for Will's 1st birthday. It was for both of them but the occasion fell on his birthday. They both love it. They want to be pushed hours on end. Jake and Will love being outside and so does momma because that means everyone sleeps good that night.
Jake always says, "push momma push."
It is so cute because he always repeats the first thing he says in a sentence.

Splish, Splash
Well, I have finally joined to world of bloggers. I am excited to have a way to communicate daily life with two small children. I was determined that today we would stay home and play and that I would get some things done around the house while the boys took a nap. Around lunch time I put Will in the highchair with some animal crackers and cranberry grape juice (1st mistake) . Jake was playing with his books in the living room so I thought I could run to our bedroom and finish monogramming a towel. I hear the kids laughing in the background and thought at least one of the two was contained in the highchair. In a few minutes I hear jake say, "momma wook"
"What is it jake" I asked from the bedroom.
"A pool"
As I turn the corner into the living room I hear Will laughing hysterically and Jake jumping around by the highchair. As I get closer I notice that Will had dropped or thrown his juice on the ground and the top had come off. There was cranberry grape juice EVERYWHERE and jake was jumping around in the puddles on the floor. He was laughing and saying "Pool" and "wad-der". I could only laugh and put jake in his highchair to clean it up. Suddenly the outside pool had made it's way into our house. If only I could get a tan while Jake played in his new "pool" today life would have close to perfect.

Snack Anyone??

Jake is such my big helper these days. He always seems to be one step ahead of me when we are doing things around the house. For example, when I say it's bathtime he is running to the linen closets pulling out 8 towels before I even pick up Will and get to the bathroom. When Jake gets out of the bathtub he is putting on lotion before I even get him dried off. Maybe this trait will carry over when he goes to school and he will do his homework well in advance of the due date (right...). I will keep hoping on that to happen.
However, after everyone got up from naptime today Jake decides that he is going to be the big boy and help me give Will his juice and snack. I put Will in his highchair with his apple juice and tell Jake to put a few goldfish on Will's tray. Jake grabs the box of goldfish and gives some to his brother. He proclaims very loudly, "I did it momma, I did it"
I said "Thank you Jake you are such a big helper"
As I turn around I notice that Jake has dumped the ENTIRE box of goldfish on his brother's tray. Will seems so excited but a little overwhelmed at the amount of snack he has been given. He is a big eater but this is going to be pushing it a little. Thanks Jake... you are such the big brother.
